There Is Still Time To Vote in the AAP Elections!

On Thursday, September 1st the American Academy of Pediatrics elections began.  Our Georgia Chapter has two members running for national office:

        Sara (Sally) Goza, MD Fayetteville is running for District X chair. The other candidate is Ed Zissman, MD of Florida.  The District X chair sits on the AAP Board of Directors representing Georgia, Florida, Alabama & Puerto Rico.  The term is 3 years.

        Avril Beckford, MD, Atlanta is running for the National Nominating Committee. She is unopposed.  The Nominating Committee is responsible for selecting candidates to run for AAP president. The term is 3 years.

The election opens on September 1 and closes on October 1, 4pm, CDT.  Voting will be on-line only.  All AAP voting members will receive an e-mail from the AAP election coordinator during the period of Sept. 1-4.  It will contain a link to the ballot to allow them to vote.  Members may also log-on to the Member Center of the AAP website to access the link to the ballot.

As a reminder, only national AAP members in the following categories are permitted to vote:  Fellows, Specialty Fellows, Emeritus Fellows and Retired Fellows. Your membership dues must be current in order to vote.  Please check your national AAP member status now if you intend to vote. You may do so via the AAP website at “My Account” or by calling 866-843-2271, M-F 7am-530pm CDT.  You may renew your AAP membership (if it has lapsed) so you can vote in this election. After paying your dues, your ballot will be activated and you will be able to vote.

In recent AAP elections less than 20% of eligible voters have participated, so every vote counts.  Please vote in this election so we can turn out a large Georgia contingent of our AAP voting members.
